Please join us in welcoming Mark Smith, president of the Auburn and Covington MultiCare Medical Centers, who is the latest addition to the Covington Chamber Board of Directors.
Prior to joining MultiCare in November 2016, Mark spent six years in executive-level positions at Kettering Health Network. Most recently, in his role as President of Fort Hamilton Hospital, Mark led the successful turn-around of a financially, operationally and reputationally challenged hospital by building and mentoring a high-performing leadership team and motivating employees through relationship building, strategic communication and transparency. Throughout his career, Mark has successfully led large-scale initiatives that have improved operational efficiencies, financial performance, clinical quality, patient experience and employee engagement.
Mark is responsible for growth and performance at both Covington and Auburn hospitals as well as provider engagement and partnership, and community connections in the communities served by MultiCare. He and his executive leadership team are continuously focused on identifying opportunities the South King County market as MultiCare Health System expands its presence in the region.
Mark received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1990. In 1993, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He is also a certified public accountant.
Mark and his wife, Jacque, have two young sons, Branson and Harrison. In his spare time, Mark enjoys photography and spends much of his spare time exploring and capturing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
