Vote for our 2022 Board of Directors!

The following members of the Covington Chamber of Commerce have been nominated to serve on the Chamber’s board of directors for two-year terms, beginning January 1, 2022 and running through December 31, 2023.

 

Elaine CruzatElaine Cruzat
Studio Manager, Eat the Frog Fitness

Elaine joined the Covington Chamber board in August 2021, replacing Justin VanLandschoot. Elaine has a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Washington University. She is a PE teacher for Rainier Athletics, and has management experience working for Eddie Bauer, Bath & Body Works and Discovery Playtown. Elaine served as the director of events, connections and next steps at Imagine Church and was the event coordinator of an Imagine Fashion Show fundraiser. The mom of two daughters, Elaine has a passion for people and creating community bonds and relationships.

 

Patrick Hanis
Partner, Hanis Irvine Prothero PLLC 

A local Kentwood graduate, Pat got his bachelor’s in speech communications from the University of Washington and his juris doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law. As a partner with Hanis Irvine Prothero in Kent, Pat’s practice focuses primarily on probate/estate planning, real estate, business, construction and related transactions and litigation. Patrick has significant negotiation, trial, mediation and arbitration experience, including jury and non-jury trials.

Pat has served as a commissioner for the Lake Meridian Water District, which serves Meridian Valley and Lake Meridian, where Pat lives with his wife and five children. In addition, Pat devotes free time to charitable and community causes including the Boy Scouts of America, the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program and the Meridian-Kent Kiwanis Club.

 

Lorianne PaxtonLorianne Paxton
Director, Career and Technical Education, Kent School District 

Lori has been with the Kent School District for over 18 years. This is her sixth year in her current role as Director of Career and Technical Education at the district office. Lori currently serves on the Kent Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and the Kent Community Foundation where she is the lead of several scholarship committees.

She grew up in the Kent area, attended Highline College, received her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Central Washington University, and her Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. She returned to Central Washington University to earn her Career and Technical Education Program Administrator certification. She is passionate about education and providing opportunities to students.

 

Mark SmithMark Smith
President, MultiCare Auburn and Covington Medical Centers

Mark joined the Covington Chamber board in May 2021, replacing Ed Holmes who was incoming chair. Mark is responsible for growth and performance at both Covington and Auburn hospitals as well as provider engagement and partnership, and community connections in the communities served by MultiCare. He and his executive leadership team are continuously focused on identifying opportunities the South King County market as MultiCare Health System expands its presence in the region.

Mark received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1990. In 1993, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He is also a certified public accountant.
